The CSA U19 Cubs champions the Dolphins went down to the Warriors in their final game of the week in Stellenbosch, writes THEO GARRUN.
The CSA U19 Cubs week drew to a close in Stellenbosch on Monday with the champions, the Dolphins, suffering their first defeat of the tournament, a 76-run loss to the Warriors.
The Dolphins had already clinched the title after they won their fourth straight game on Sunday, so there wasn’t really much to play for as far as they were concerned, and the Warriors rose to the occasion with Matt Dewar getting a century, Tristan Stubbs 68, and their bowlers getting the better of the Dolphins batting.

Dewar struck 110 off 139 balls (10 fours) and was part of a 124-run third-wicket stand with Stubbs. The Warriors reached 249-4 in their 50 overs and in reply the Dolphins were bowled out for 173. Matthew Montgomery (44), Caleb Pillay (35) and Colby Dyer (32) all got starts for the Dolphins, but no-one else got into double figures. Nonelela Yokha was the pick of the Warriors bowlers, taking 3-29 off his 10 overs.
The Titans finished the week without a single win under their belts, being beaten by the hosts, the Cape Cobras, on Monday. Justin Broad made a handy 59 as the Cobras got to 209-9 in their allotted overs, after which the Titans were bowled out for 169, with Archille Cloete taking 3-29 in his 10 overs.

The Knights comfortably accounted for the Lions in the other game of the day. The Lions top order failed dismally and it was left to the bowlers – Marco Jansen (24) and Obakeng Maila (23) – to get them to a modest 124. The Knights only needed 27 overs to reach the target with five wickets down.
