Former Proteas fast bowler Hardus Viljoen took the most wickets in Sharjah’s T10 League, which ended on Sunday.

His 18 wickets outdid West Indies and Maratha Arabians seamer Dwayne Bravo, and Pakistan and Pakhtoons fast bowler Mohammad Irfan, who took 10 each to share second place.

Viljoen’s sterling performance was capped by the key dismissals of dangerous duo Shahid Afridi and Colin Ingram in the Northern Warriors’ final against the Pakhtoons. The Warriors won to clinch the title.

Seamer Wayne Parnell claimed four wickets in six appearances for the Kerala Knights, while spinner Roelof van der Merwe managed four in nine for the Maratha Arabians. All-rounder Parnell also struck 59 runs in two innings.

Fast bowler Morne Morkel took only two in seven for the Bengal Tigers – and endured a costly economy rate of 12.33.

Ingram and fellow Pakhtoons batsman Cameron Delport gathered 117 runs in seven innings and 102 in eight, respectively. The left-handed Rilee Rossouw, meanwhile, gathered 76 in five.

Delport and Rossouw will soon return to South Africa to resume respective stints with the Paarl Rocks and Tshwane Spartans in the inaugural Mzansi Super League.

The 29-year-old Viljoen played one Test for the Proteas, against England at the Wanderers in Johannesburg in early 2016, and has since signed a Kolpak contract with Derbyshire in England. The Kolpak contract does not allow Proteas selection for Viljoen.
