Cape Town Blitz coach Ashwell Prince is eager to exploit the young Tshwane Spartans seam attack, come Saturday’s Mzansi Super League clash at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

The Spartans are without fast bowler Lungi Ngidi, who has been sidelined by injury, leaving trio Eldred Hawken, Corbin Bosch and Lutho Sipamla with additional responsibility.

‘They had a big injury to Ngidi, so they can’t call on his expertise as well, which has left their seam bowling attack fairly young. They had Hawken, Bosch and Sipamla in their last game – these were their first three seamers, so that’s very young,’ said Prince.

‘It is really unfortunate that the injury has come at this particular time in Lungi’s career. He is definitely one for the future for the Proteas, and South Africa has a lot to look forward to from this young man.’

The Blitz beat the Spartans in the tournament opener earlier this month, when captain AB de Villiers was supported by former Proteas batsman Rilee Rossouw. Rossouw has since left for a stint in the T10 League in the United Arab Emirates, with opener Dean Elgar now De Villiers’ lead support.

‘We saw them here on the first day, so we have an idea what they are about. I think they are heavily reliant on AB in the batting department, although Dean also played nicely,’ added Prince.
