Captain Farhaan Behardien remained optimistic, despite the Cape Town Blitz’s inability to gain victory from either of their last two Mzansi Super League fixtures.

The Blitz relished four victories in a row, but then lost to the Paarl Rocks on Sunday – and shared a washout with the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants on Tuesday.

‘It’s a little disappointing not to play against the Giants, but maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. We have been on a bit of a tight schedule, so the guys can rest up and be fresh for Saturday’s game in Pretoria,’ said Behardien.

‘The guys have a few days off now, and we will rest up nicely and are looking forward to playing at SuperSport Park, and try to keep the momentum going.

‘Each team gets two points, and because we picked up those two bonus points, it effectively means we have won five out of our six games, which is really good news for us.’

The Cape Town outfit are still at the top of the six-team standings – and will face the Tshwane Spartans at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Saturday. They beat the Spartans earlier this month in the tournament opener.

‘If you end top of the log, you get a home final, which is some reward for consistent performances over the tournament, so that’s definitely top prize,’ added Behardien.

‘We definitely want to end top, so hopefully we can keep our momentum going.’
