Yorkshire beat Northern Cape High School to give RPCs their first win of the season.

Kgotso Kepaletswe and Adrian Korkie led a stellar bowling performance that paved the way for the Standard Bank Yorkshire Regional Performance Centre (RPC) to secure a big 10-wicket victory over Northern Cape High School in their Momentum Friendship Games meeting in Kimberley on Wednesday.

The pair shared four wickets to help restrict the hosts at the Northern Cape High School to 82 all out, before Itumeleng Sekonyela and O Kesiamang struck unbeaten 30s to take their side to a big win with 34 balls to spare.

It was a first victory for a RPC representative this season after Paarl, Rocklands and Alice failed to win their fixtures, although the latter did manage a thrilling tie with Selborne College in East London last month.

The 20-over match, which represents an important undertaking by partners Cricket South Africa (CSA) and sponsors Momentum, kicked off at 13:00 with Yorkshire winning the toss and opting to bowl first.

The visitors had the home side in trouble from the outset as Hamza Kana fell for a second ball duck to Justin Williams (1-15). Kagisho Mentor (1-14) then accounted for Ronsley Sauls (5) as the visitors started becoming accustomed to striking regularly through the innings.

A 20-run stand between AJ van Niekerk (10) and Igshaan Alexander (14) followed before Sekonyela claimed one of two run-outs to break the stand.

Paseka Jonkers (1-15) got Alexander soon after, with innings top-scorer Estienne van den Berg (16) battling his way towards a score of respectability for his side as Kepaletswe (2-14) and Korkie (2-10) mopped up the tail – Northern Cape all out in 17.1 overs.

Sekonyela and Kesiamang then offered little opportunity for the hosts as they raced away to the target in 14.2 overs. The former top-scored for Yorkshire with 36 off 48 balls (5 fours), while the latter ended with 31 off 40 (2 fours), helping their side clinch an easy win.
