The West Indies Women powered into the semi-finals of the Women’s World T20 with a crushing win over Sri Lanka.

Hayley Matthews starred with bat and ball for the West Indies Women in their 83-run win over the Sri Lanka Women that saw them through to the semi-finals of the Women’s World T20.
Opening the batting, Matthews struck an incredible 62 runs off 36 balls (eight fours, two sixes, S/R 172.22) and then powered through the Sri Lankan middle order, taking 3-16 (econ 5.33) to set up a massive victory and walk off with the Player of the Match honours.
‘We came to the party today in the batting area, but can’t say that for the fielding,’ said Windies skipper Stafanie Taylor. ‘We said that we just need to apply and spend time at the crease. The reason for batting first was the thought that the pitch would keep low. It was a bit hard to choose bowlers, but most of the time I just work with my instincts.’
‘We tried our best but their openers batted really well in the powerplay, but I’m happy with the team. We have experienced players and some young girls, we just need some experience at this level. As a captain, I am happy with the team’s performance,’ said Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Atapattu.

Australia Women vs India Women
India outplayed the Australian Women in all departments in securing a 48-run win in their final group game to finish the round-robin phases with four wins from four matches. Smriti Mandhana was key to the India victory, producing a brilliant innings of 83 off 55 balls to demolish Australia.

Ireland Women vs New Zealand Women
A 21-ball 50 by star allrounder Sophie Devine on the back of figures of 3-1-4-1 in Ireland’s disappointing innings of 79-9 earned her the Player of the Match honours as both teams exited the tournament, with Ireland having lost all four of their matches.
