Australia ODI captain Aaron Finch has suffered an injury scare ahead of the first ODI against the Proteas.
Finch left training early on Friday after taking a blow to the glove from a quick delivery from speedster Mitchell Starc.
On impact, Finch immediately tossed his bat and removed his glove to assess his right index finger.
After a conversation with the Australia team doctor Richard Saw and the team’s physiotherapist, Finch walked off the field. He was later seen with his finger in a cup of ice.
The extent of the injury remains unclear.
The first ODI between the Proteas and Australia starts on Sunday at 5:20am SAST in Perth.
