The Durban Heat have signed Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan for the Mzansi Super League. Khan was revealed as the Heats’ international marquee player at Wednesday’s draft.
All-rounders Vernon Philander and Albie Morkel, spinner Keshav Maharaj, fast bowlers Tladi Bokako, Marchant de Lange and Kyle Abbott, batsmen Sarel Erwee, Temba Bavuma, Khaya Zondo and David Miller and wicketkeeper-batsmen Morne van Wyk and Heinrich Klaasen and the young Okuhle Cele will also play for the Heat. Zimbabwe leg-spinner Brandon Mavuta, too, joined.
The heat unveiled the Dolphins’ Grant Morgan as head coach earlier this week. Batsman Hashim Amla is their Proteas marquee player.
The inaugural Twenty20 tournament will feature six teams and span 32 matches, from 16 November to 16 December 2018. The Heat’s home matches will be played at Kingsmead in Durban.
