Cricket South Africa (CSA) has paid tribute to Sonwabile Bidla, the President of Blind Cricket South Africa, who passed away on 5 October at the age of 33.
In adding to his work as an administrator, he was also a fine player who represented South Africa in three Blind Cricket World Cups in 2012, 2014 and 2017 and was honoured by CSA as Blind Cricketer of the Year in 2016.
‘His passing is a sad loss to the cause of Blind Cricket and leaves a void that will not be filled easily,’ commented CSA Chief Executive Thabang Moroe.
‘He was a tireless worker who lived his cricket dreams in spite of the handicap he had to overcome. On behalf of the CSA Family I extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends and cricket colleagues,’ added Moroe.
