The middle brother of England Test cricketers Sam and Tom Curran, Ben, will play club cricket in Cape Town later this year.

According to Club Cricket SA, the 22-year-old Curran will play for Cape Town Cricket Club in the Western Province Cricket Association premier league.

The left-handed Curran recently signed a senior contract with Northamptonshire in the County Championship Division Two.

The Plumstead-based club has relished the services of Kent’s Adam Rouse and Essex’s Graeme Smith in previous seasons. England batsman Jonathan Trott, too, played for them before moving abroad.

Club Cricket SA also reported that Kent veteran Darren Stevens will captain Claremont Cricket Club later this year.

‘Darren will join us and he will bring a lot of experience through many years in county cricket and, previously, some years in club cricket in South Africa,’ Claremont Cricket Club representative Alex Staub told the website.

Claremont Cricket Club’s head coach is former Proteas all-rounder Justin Kemp.

‘We are very excited to have him come over. He will work in conjunction with Kemp. They’ve got some good history together,’ added Staub.

Somerset leg-spinner Max Waller and Gloucestershire batsman Ian Cockbain will play for Milnerton Cricket Club and Northerns Goodwood Cricket Club, respectively, during the United Kingdom winter.
