A six off the second-last ball saw the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots beat the Jamaica Tallawahs to clinch a semi-final berth in the CPL.
In their eliminator match in Providence, the Tallawahs started their innings superbly, with 21-year-old East London-born Glenn Phillips scoring a dashing 103 off 63 balls before being bowled by Ben Cutting off the final ball of the innings.
David Miller ended on 19 not out, adding 42 runs for the fifth wicket with Phillips, who hit nine fours and six sixes in his innings. A New Zealand international T20I player, Phillips is only the eighth batsman to score a century in CPL history, and the second non-West Indian after Colin Munro, the Durban-born New Zealand international.
Fabian Allen bowled tidily to pick up 1-23 (econ 5.75), while Tabraiz Shamsi returned 1-38 (econ 9.50).
In response, the Patriots got off to a slow start and found themselves 62-3 after 9.4 overs before Anton Devcich and Allen (23 off 10 balls) added 56 off 24 balls for the fourth wicket. Devcich went to an explosive half-century, falling for 50 off 23 balls (five fours, two sixes, S/R 217.39).
Cutting took his side to victory with a six over mid-wicket as the Patriots ended on 193-8 off 19.5 overs.
Ish Sodhi took 3-36 and Oshane Thomas 3-43 for the Tallawahs as a thrilling contest saw them drop out of the race for CPL 2018 honours in agonising fashion.
