Colin Munro’s bruising 90 set up an emphatic 67-run victory for Trinbago over the Amazons.
Trinbago Knight Riders scored 170-7 in their 20 overs, with opener Munro smashing 90 off 56 balls, including 10 fours and four sixes. Munro found support in Denesh Ramdin, who played the anchor role, as Munro gorged himself on the Amazon bowlers, scoring 89 of the 135 runs the pair added for the second wicket.
Ramdin departed for 39 off 36 balls and Munro followed the next over, leaving the middle order to take the score to 170-7. Sohail Tanvir (3-27) and Romario Shepherd (3-29) both got among the wickets for the Amazons, while Imran Tahir went wicketless but remained economical, conceding just 6.75 runs to the over.
The Amazon innings never got into second gear as they chugged along to 57-7 after 12 overs, before Roshon Primus added an undefeated 36 off 30 balls. Tahir was the last man out for a two-ball duck as the Amazon were bowled out for 103 off 17.4 overs, giving Trinbago an easy 67-run victory.
Ali Khan took 3-22 off just 2.4 overs, while Sunil Narine (1-15, econ 3.75) and Fawad Ahmed (2-20, econ 5.00) helped to throttle the Amazon batsmen.
With the win, Trinbago slipped ahead of Amazon to second spot on the log on net run rate. Both teams have three matches left to play before the playoffs.
