Rory Kleinveldt and Dane Piedt shared six wickets between them to help South Africa A bowl out the England Lions out for 260 on the opening day of the second unofficial four-day Test match at Chevrolet Park, Bloemfontein, on Sunday.
In reply they had reached 29 for the loss of Stiaan van Zyl.
The England Lions elected to bat, and were made to pay: After six overs, they were 16-3, including the key wicket of Jonathan Trott, who scored a double hundred in the first Test. This time, he faced just four balls before being caught at leg slip off the bowling of Chris Morris without scoring. Earlier, Kleinveldt had removed Sam Robson (5) and Alex Lees (5).
Adam Lyth and James Vince (31) tried to stabilise the innings with a stand of 66, and Lyth combined well with Jonny Bairstow to put on 78 for the fifth wicket. But then both were dismissed within six deliveries.
Adil Rashid then did his best to dig in, scoring 68 off 103 balls, but apart from Liam Plunkett (24), no one was prepared to hang around.
Kleinveldt finished with 3-53 and Piedt with 3-100.
