The Warriors have a tough decision ahead after they ended day three of their Sunfoil match on 151-1, a lead of 220 over log leaders Titans in East London.
Their quandary will be when to declare, presenting a decent target while giving themselves time to crush the Titans’ batting once again.
At least they have an in-form Simon Harmer in their lineup, for he took another five as the Titans were bundled out for 213, 69 behind the Warriors’ first effort of 282.
The off-spinner took five big wickets for 74 to take his tally for the season to 35 wickets in six games, following his haul of 12-148 last time out against the Dolphins.
Only Farhaan Behardien stood his ground for the Titans, falling just three short of a deserved century, when bowled by Anrich Nortje after facing 200 balls in which he scored 13 fours. He at least received solid support from Chris Morris, who contributed 39 to a stand of 94 for the sixth wicket until he fell to Harmer.
The Titans, who have just one win from seven matches so far, had been on the road to recovery after ending day two on 111-5, until Harmer, who came from a superlative season with Essex, started the roll. Nortje ended with 2-55 while Tladi Bokako picked up 3-20 off 14 overs.
Then, despite the early loss of Gihahn Cloete for 20, Colin Ackermann pressed the accelerator, racing to 74 off 105 balls with six fours and two sixes. He was solidly backed by Eddie Moore, who was on 48 off 155 balls, with just one four.
The Warriors, too, have one win, but lost ground when beaten by the Dolphins in round seven. If the weather holds, they could be set for another win.
