Overcast conditions will aid the Proteas’ cause as they go searching for four quick wickets on day two of the third Test, reports Jon Cardinelli at Newlands.
Before the start of play, conditions were overcast and there was some light rain at the ground. The good news is that the covers have come off the pitch, and the morning session will start on time at 10:30.
South Africa will look to use the conditions to their advantage, and claim the West Indies’ remaining wickets. The overcast conditions will suit the likes of Dale Steyn, who should get some swing with a ball that is only 10 overs old.
The cloud cover is expected to burn off later in the day. Conditions should be ideal for batting after lunch, and South Africa will aim to be at the crease by that stage.
At the start of play, the West Indies were six wickets down, with Jermaine Blackwood (45 not out) and Jason Holder (5 not out) at the crease.
