The Highveld Lions were on the rack again as bad light stopped play when they were 159-8 against the Knights in Kimberley.
Only 61 overs were possible, but in that time, the Knights’ pace battery of Marchant de Lange, Duanne Olivier, Mbulelo Budaza and Shadley van Schalkwyk picked up two apiece.
Only Rassie van der Dussen (42) and Dwaine Pretorius, unbeaten on 42 at the close, offered any resistance as the Lions look to fight against a third loss in the Sunfoil Series.
They sit at the bottom of the pile and desperately need to start winning in a tight series. Only three wins have been registered in 21 matches.
In Pietermaritzburg, the Dolphins battled their way to 282-9 off 68 overs against the Cobras, when their innings was also halted by bad light.
They fought back from 75-4, to which Vaughn van Jaarsveld had contributed 44. Dane Vilas saw attack as the best form of defence, hitting 70 off 76 balls (12×4) and Robbie Frylink picked up the standard, ending the day unbeaten on 63 off 68 (4×4, 3×6).
Dane Paterson was the pick of the attack with 3-57, while there were two each for Tshepo Moreki and Dane Piedt as the Cobras go in search of their first win of the series.
