Christiaan Jonker’s brilliant innings of 49 off just 24 balls at Newlands in Cape Town is our Play of the Day.
With the game all but over, and India already celebrating a win at Newlands, Proteas debutant Jonker stepped up to make sure the fans got their money’s worth on Saturday night.

India’s bowlers had done well on the night, and restricted the South African batsmen to just ones and twos as they looked to win the series.
With the big boys already back in the dug out, Jonker played a number of beautiful shots, and has put his name in the hat for consideration in the future.
Suresh Raina, who scored 43 and took bowling figures of 1-27 finished as man-of-the-match, and skipper Duminy batted well for his contributing a valuable 55 earlier in the innings could easily have been named Play of the Day.
But, for a debutant to play with so much confidence in such a pressure situation was enough for Jonker’s to be judged SACricketmag.com’s Play of the Day.
