India’s hopes of winning the Test at Centurion and leveling the series may hinge on Virat Kohli’s performance on day three.
India, who trail by 152 runs, need their captain to push on and score a big century from here. Kohli will resume on 85 not out this morning.
DAY TWO ANALYSIS: SA look to turn screw as runs dry up
Hardik Pandya, who scored 93 in the first Test at Newlands, will join Kohli at the crease. So much is riding on this partnership as the visitors look to reduce the deficit before South Africa bat again.
DAY TWO REPORT: Pugnacious Proteas claim day two spoils
The Proteas have to break this partnership – and dismiss Kohli in particular – as soon as possible. They will have to get the job done with the old ball, though, as the second new ball isn’t due for another 19 overs.
It will be interesting to see who captain Faf du Plessis backs from the outset. Keshav Maharaj has already been identified as a key player, given the track is offering some assistance to the spinners.
