Titans bowlers Chris Morris and Tabraiz Shamsi combined to crush the Warriors by 121 runs in their One-Day Cup match in East London.
The pace of Morris and the left-arm chinaman spin of Shamsi took three wickets apiece as the Warriors collapsed to 129 in pursuit of the Titans’ offering of 250-9.
Shamsi could claim the bragging rights by taking his wickets off six overs, conceding 11 runs at 1.8, while Morris could point to the fact that he dismissed the Warriors openers with 16 runs on the board. He ended with 3-24 off seven. Shaun von Berg chipped in with 2-32.
Only Jon-Jon Smuts (25) and Yaseen Vallie (40) offered any resistance as they put on 49 runs for the second wicket.
The Warriors would have set off in good heart after restricting the Titans to 250, after they had lost the toss and were sent into the field. The Titans came up against a Sisanda Magala on fire: he bowled Victor Mahlangu and Andrea Agathangelou in successive overs before Anrich Nortje joined the party to snap up Rivaldo Moonsamy. They were three down for 18 in the fourth over.
It was down to Heinrich Klaasen (66) and Farhaan Behardien (52) to rebuild the innings, which they did with grim determination, putting on 116 for the third wicket.
Albie Morkel carried on the good work by hammering an unbeaten 80 off 63 balls, with six fours and four sixes, which was enough to take the target beyond the reach of the Warriors.
The Dolphins now top the log on 21 points followed by the Titans on 19 and the Cape Cobras on 18. All have played six matches.
