Richard Levi’s 41 helped set up a victory for Northamptonshire as they ended Leicestershire’s unbeaten streak by two runs (D/L method).
Rain played a huge part in Friday’s T20 blast, with three games abandoned due to bad weather conditions.
The defending champions got off to a solid start, as Levi struck a quick 28-ball 41, but never received support from Northants’ top order.
The Cobras batsman hit six fours and one six, with a strike rate of 146.42, but could not push on to what would have been his first half-century since May 2016 in the tournament.
He departed with his side on 68-3, two balls into the 10th over, as Northamptonshire posted 165-8 in their 20 overs.
Leicestershire were well ahead on the D/L method throughout the match, but Rory Kleinveldt‘s economical bowling display helped throttle the hosts.
The Cobras all-rounder ended with figures of 1-18 after three overs, which included the crucial wicket of Mark Cosgrove (41 off 26 balls).
Neither Colin Ackermann nor Mark Pettini were able to get the ball to the boundary as the game ended with the home side two runs short of the required D/L target.
Glamorgan vs Surrey
Marchant de Lange got his side off to a good start, picking up two quick wickets in his opening over to pin the visitors back at 19-2 by the end of the second over. Sussex managed to steady the ship at 87-2 before play was called off.
Hampshire vs Essex
Kyle Abbott‘s 1-26 wasn’t enough to help his side defend their meek 124-run total, as his side slumped to a seven-wicket defeat in Chelmsford.
