Sean Dickson hit 318 and shared in a record 382-run partnership with Joe Denly as Kent piled on the runs against Northants in the County Championship.
Dickson and Daniel Bell-Drummond laid the perfect foundation, notching 129 for the opening stand. Bell-Drummond’s innings came to a premature end just one run short of a half-century.
Dickson continued on in the company of Denly and reached the three-figure mark off 165 balls. Far from finished, the Johannesburg-born Dickson continued to bat incredibly well. He found the boundary with regularity and together he and Denly had amassed 305 runs by stumps on day one, Dickson reaching 210 runs and Denly 143.

The Kent batsmen continued in the same vein on day two by asserting their dominance over the bowlers. Denly reached 150 and looked set to kick on to a double ton before he fell for 182. Undeterred, Dickson continued his march to a triple-century and brought up the magical figure on 395 balls.
Though Dickson fell 26 runs shy of the all-time Kent record, he did surpass Matt Walker’s post-war record of 275, set in 1996. His innings included 31 fours and three sixes and came off 408 balls.

Derbyshire vs Durham
Elsewhere, Imran Tahir proved his worth in the longer format for Derbyshire. After beginning his stint with the team in June, Tahir is already making his presence felt. Derbyshire had been bowled out for 368 in their first innings. Needing something special with the ball, Tahir delivered the goods.
The Proteas leg-spinner made life difficult for the visitors. He proved difficult to get away, conceding 98 runs in 29 overs. Tahir benefited from the pressure he had built up, picking up five wickets by the end of day two to leave Durham struggling on 274-8 at stumps. He will be looking to finish off the tail and ensure a first innings lead for his team when day three begins.
