In Friday night’s Ram Slam T20 action the Lions secured top-spot, while the Knights and Warriors completed a full house of home victories.
The Knights compounded the Titans misery by cruising to an eight wicket victory in Bloemfontein. The hosts won the toss and inserted the winless Titans. Shadley van Schalkwyk continued his sparkling form, claiming 2-26 off his four overs to restrict the men from Pretoria to 135-6.
In reply, the recently returned Reeza Hendricks guided his side to victory with 22 balls to spare. He finished unbeaten on 76 off just 48 deliveries. It was almost the perfect game for the Knights, who would have claimed a bonus point had they completed the job two balls earlier.
In Port Elizabeth, the Warriors recorded their first win of the tournament when they beat the Dolphins by seven wickets in a last ball thriller. The Dolphins won the toss and opted to bat first. They posted 142-6 as nobody kicked on once getting a start.
In reply, JJ Smuts and Colin Ingram set up the victory with a pair of half-centuries. Smuts fell for 48-ball 54, but Ingram saw the team home. The captain hit the winning runs off the final ball of the match to finish on 64 off 54 deliveries.
The top of the table clash saw the Lions claim a bonus point victory over the Cape Cobras in Johannesburg. Justin Ontong sent the hosts in and his side did a good job to restrict the Lions to 141-7.
Richard Levi stroked 20 at the top of the order as the Cape Franshise looked like they would canter home. However, Chris Morris dismissed the dangerous opener in the first over of what would become a world record spell. Morris returned figures of 2-2 in four overs, the most economic bowling in T20 history.
