New Zealand have won the toss and will bowl first against England in their Group A Champions Trophy clash at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

 It is the first contest at Sophia Gardens this tournament in a match which holds significance for both sides for very different reasons. England will be hoping to continue the fine form they showed in their opening game against Bangladesh where they cruised to an eight-wicket victory with 16 balls to spare.

New Zealand meanwhile will be hoping for better weather in their second outing of the tournament. Rain scuppered a likely Black Caps victory in their first game against Australia, with each side receiving a point apiece.

There are clear skies in Cardiff at the moment though there is the possibility of showers at some point during the day.

The last time the two sides met in an ODI series, it was a tightly contested affair. The five-match series in England in 2015 went down to the wire as England won the decider to record a 3-2 series victory.

The two sides have met once before at Sophia Gardens in the 2013 edition of the Champions Trophy. It was a day in which ball scored a rare victory over bat. Kyle Mills was the chief destroyer of the England batting order as his 4-30 meant the hosts were skittled for a modest 169 in just 23.3 overs. The New Zealand chase left a lot to be desired as the hosts swept the Kiwis aside for just 159 to secure a famous victory.
