Proteas bowler Aaron Phangiso talks about Quinton de Kock’s poor sense of direction.
‘The Proteas have a running club on every tour, giving players the opportunity to take long jogs early in the morning. This is usually headed up by our physio Brandon Jackson. During our recent stay in Sri Lanka, we had a run in Colombo and Quinton de Kock decided to join us for the first time. For those who don’t know, Colombo gets very hot, but Quinton felt he was was up for the challenge. He did well early on, but it wasn’t long before he fell behind the pack as the heat got to him. He then took a wrong turn by mistake and a 6km run turned into an 11km one for him! He got lost and had to take a tuk-tuk back to the hotel. We sent out security to look for him, but we eventually found him, soaking wet after a cold shower. I believe Quinton will now stick to the treadmill on future tours!’
