Hashim Amla followed up his century with 65 as the Kings XI Punjab beat the Gujarat Lions by 26 runs.
It was another stellar show from the man who the IPL’s official website now calls ‘Mr Consistent’, as Amla put together a destructive performance to allow his side to win their third match of the tournament and go up to fourth spot.
Only three days ago against the Mumbai Indians, the 34-year-old struck his first-ever career T20 century off just 58 balls, and his 40-ball 65 was the top score again for the Kings XI Punjab against a poor Gujarat Lions outfit. It means he now has 299 runs to his name this season, 17 more than Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner, to top the run-charts.
Amla, more precision and finesse than brute strength, boasts a better strike rate than Warner, Kieron Pollard and AB de Villiers so far this season, with 31 fours – the most – and 12 sixes – the fifth-most.
