Delhi Daredevils batsman JP Duminy has pulled out of the IPL due to personal reasons.
No specific reason was given for his withdrawal, but he may want to focus on his form for the Proteas.
‘It has been a very difficult decision for me to make, but it was for purely personal reasons,’ Duminy said in a Daredevils media release. ‘I certainly hope to play a part for the franchise in the near future.’
Duminy is the fifth-highest scorer for Delhi Daredevils with 1,015 runs in 38 matches at a strike rate of 130.79.
The IPL tournament begins on 5 April and ends 10 days prior to the ICC Champions Trophy which runs to a close on 18 June. His preparation and focus for the Champions Trophy held in England, seems to be the main reason for Duminy’s withdrawal.
