Sixteen South Africans have been registered for the Caribbean Premier League Player Draft, which takes place on 10 March.
A total of 258 players will be fighting for a place in this year’s competition, which runs from 1 August to 9 September.
There will be 28 players from Australia in the draft, an increase of six from the 2016 tournament. The list includes experienced campaigners Brad Haddin, Ben Hilfenhaus and Brad Hogg, mixed with some up-and-coming talent headlined by leg-spinner Adam Zampa.
Corey Anderson, Grant Elliott and Jimmy Neesham are included among the 17 New Zealanders up for auction.
England have four representatives, with fast bowler Tymal Mills standing out after picking up a lucrative IPL contract at the draft in February.
Pakistan increased last year’s tally of 38 players to 46 and have the highest representation in this year’s draft.
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, who were the first players from their nation to be drafted at the IPL Auction, make the list among three other names.
‘T20 is capturing the world of cricket by storm, and with the huge numbers of talented players from across the cricketing world eager to sign up to the biggest party in sport, I’ve no doubt that the 2017 season will be our best yet,’ said Tom Moody, the Director of International Cricket for the CPL.
‘In attracting the cream of international talent from a healthy blend of established and fast-developing nations, it extends the growing international appeal of the sport and of the Hero CPL itself, and I have no doubt that we are going to see a hugely contested Player Draft in Barbados on March 10.’
