Sune Luus starred as the Proteas Women eased past hosts Sri Lanka to guarantee 2017 World Cup qualification.
The tournament will be held in the United Kingdom and will run from 24 June to 23 July. South Africa and India are the first to qualify and will join Australia, England, New Zealand and the West Indies.
Player of the Match Luus was vital in restricting Sri Lanka to 142-9 in their 50 overs, taking 3-40, including the vital wicket of Sri Lanka’s top scorer Nipuni Hansika for 48 off 96 balls.
Captain Dane van Niekerk chipped in with 2-14, while useful contributions from Moseline Daniels (1-16), Ayabonga Khaka (1-22) and Marizanne Kapp (1-26) helped to bundle out Sri Lanka who set an easy target for the visitors.
Lizelle Lee was the only Proteas wicket to fall when she departed to Eshani Kaushalya for 35 off 29 deliveries in the 28th over.
Luus (50 off 70) and Laura Wolvaardt (50 off 118) took their side home from there on, with both batters hitting unbeaten 50s to claim a nine-wicket victory with 83 balls to spare.
South Africa’s last Super Six match will be against Ireland at the Colombo Cricket Club on Sunday, 19 February.
