Lions captain Stephen Cook scored a century at the top of the order to lead his side to a bonus point victory in Bloemfontein.

Cook won the toss and inserted the Knights. All of the bowlers did an admirable job with the opening pair of Chris Morris and Lonwabo Tsotsobe claiming two wickets each. Dwaine Pretorius, however, was the pick of the bowlers. His 10 overs yielded the impressive figures of 4-35.

The Knights innings ended on 205, four balls before the end of their allotted overs. In reply, Cook and Alviro Petersen put the result beyond doubt. Petersen fell for 52 and Cook finally capitalized on a good start to score a 108-ball 102. The Lions reached their target in 38.2 overs, to secure an eight wicket victory.

The Titans completed a successful weekend by beating the Warriors in Port Elizabeth to put them back into contention. Colin Ingram won the toss and elected to bat first. He once again led from the front, scoring 73 off 76 balls to help post 278-6.

Theunis de Bruyn controlled the chase, finishing on 152 not out off just 144 deliveries. He found an able partner in Farhaan Behardien, who helped take the team home with his unbeaten 60-ball 62. The two sealed a comfortable seven wicket victory with 15 balls to spare.

In Durban, the expected inclement weather didn’t allow a ball to be bowled. The Dolphins and Cobras had to share the points as a result, which insured that they would sit in the top two positions on the log until next year when the competition resumes.

The Momentum One Day Cup will now take a break, while the T20 competition takes place over the holiday season. The 50 over format will return on 23 January. Although there is plenty of cricket still to be played, it appears as if the other five franchises will be fighting for the right to take on the Cobras in the final.
