Kagiso Rabada has been fined for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the fourth ODI in Cape Town on Tuesday.

The Proteas speedster, along with Sri Lankan opener, Niroshan Dickwella, were fined 50 percent of their match fees and found guilty of ‘inappropriate and deliberate physical contact’.

The incident occured during the 12th over, when they made contact with each other at the non-striker’s end after a single. Their actions were judged as being preventable.

No formal hearing was needed as both players pleaded guilty and accepted the sanction proposed by Richie Richardson of the Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees.

In addition to the fine, the players also received three demerit points which have been added to their disciplinary records. Four or more demerit points during a 24-month period will be converted into suspension points and the player responsible will serve a ban.

Two suspension points converts to a ban from one Test, two ODIs or two T20Is, depending on which comes first.
