We take a look at the stats ahead of the first T20 against Sri Lanka at Supersport Park in Centurion.
The Proteas’ record at Supersport is not one of the best, having won only two out of the five matches, giving them a win rate of 40%.
Surprisingly, only five internationals have been played at Supersport Park. The team batting first has won 80% of the time. The average score for the team batting first is 179 and for the team batting second it’s 134.
The highest team total was scored by South Africa against England in 2009, a massive 241-6. In that match, Loots Bosman scored the highest individual score, 94 off 45 deliveries, including nine sixes, the most by any batsman in an innings at Supersport Park.
The lowest team total was also scored by South Africa, they were bundled out for a mere 100 runs against Pakistan. In the same match, the best bowling figures at Supersport Park were also recorded when Umar Gul took five wickets for only six runs.
The stats say that teams batting second at Supersport Park struggle 80% of the time. So, if you win the toss, have a bat, get the runs on the board and you will have a very good chance of getting a win.
