Wiaan Mulder smashed an unbeaten 104 off 44 balls against SWD to lead Gauteng to a 117-run T20 win in Bloemfontein on Sunday.
The Gauteng captain dominated proceedings by top-scoring on day three of the Khaya Majola Under-19 Week.
Mulder’s knock included nine fours and seven sixes. Mitchell van Buuren and Muhammed Mayet hit 70 not out and 45 respectively to help set up Gauteng’s 288-3 at the end of their 20 overs.
Levin Muller hit 43 from 23 balls to get the SWD reply off to a good start. Gauteng’s Mayet, Kgaudisa Molefe and Codi Yusuf took two wickets each, restricting the opposition to 171.
At Free State University Main Oval, Boland’s bowlers held their nerve to pull off an eight-run win over Western Province. Tiaan du Plessis and Curtley Deelman took 3/17 and 2/17 respectively to bowl WP out for 128 after setting them a 137-run target. Boland’s Bernu Engelbrecht and Paul Barnard hit 42 and 35.
In other matches, Northerns beat Namibia by 32 runs, Border suffered a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of Free State, KZN cantered to a 30-run victory over North West and Eastern Province won their match against Limpopo by seven wickets with 51 balls to spare.
At University of Free State 3, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Inland beat Mpumalanga by nine wickets. The latter scored 167-3 after being put in to bat first by Inland. Conner Fletcher and Grant Truter returned unbeaten for 66 and 33 respectively.
Gavin Morris (70) and Jiveshan Pillay (55) hit half-centuries to bat their side to victory, with a 16-ball 30 added by Matthew Dicks to seal it.
Finally, Northern Cape came out on top in their match against Easterns after a tie forced a one-over eliminator at Christian Brothers College.
