A brilliant 62 from Cameron Delport set up the Dolphins for a six-wicket win over the Titans in the CSA T20 Challenge in Durban.
He and Morne van Wyk (27) put on 60 runs before the powerplay was over in response to the Titans offering of 170.
Delport smashed six fours and three sixes among the 33 balls he faced and he maintained the momentum when T20 superstar Kevin Pietersen was dismissed for five.
Delport, who has re-signed for Leicestershire’s white-ball games this season, got much more support from Cody Chetty, who anchored the innings and ended unbeaten on 29 as Khaya Zondo (26) and Robbie Frylinck (12) took the Dolphins to the line with four balls to spare.
Shaun von Berg was the most successful bowler, dismissing Delport and Zondo with his leg-breakers while conceeding 26 runs off four overs.
The Titans, having won the toss, were restricted by early wickets, which saw them struggling at 35-3; two of which fell to Robbie Frylinck, who had 2-9 in his first spell.
But Heino Kuhn and Farhaan Behardien rebuilt the innings, putting on 66 off 45 balls before Kuhn became the second of Delport’s victims. Behardien continued to a well-worked 72 off 40 balls (9×4, 2×6), supported by Albie Morkel’s 29 off 22.
They took the score to 170, but it was never enough after Delport had broken the back of the chase.
