Vernon Philander remains unsure about the pink ball after the Proteas were beaten by Australia in Adelaide.
Philander, who won Man of the Series for SA’s 2-1 win over Australia, said he enjoyed the pink-ball match in Adelaide, but would have preferred to have more practice.
Australia won the final Test by seven wickets on day four, largely due to their players using the pink ball domestically in recent times.
‘I think we have to get used to the pink ball. We need to experiment with it a bit more,’ said Philander.
‘We had two warm-up games but I don’t think that was sufficient time to get to get used to it, as a bowler. But there’s definitely a future for the pink-ball Test.’
Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis was more positive about the match and said the experience surpassed their expectations.
‘It was a lot more positive than I thought it would be, and I think there’s a real future for it,’ he added.
