Quinton de Kock insists that he does not aspire to be like Adam Gilchrist, as he has his own game plan determining the way he wants to play.  

After hitting 104 on day three against Australia, the 23-year-old wicketkeeper batsman waved away comparisons between him and the Aussie legend.

‘I don’t try and be like him or anything, it’s just the way I play,’ De Kock said. ‘I don’t see myself being like him, I just see the ball, hit the ball type thing. I have my own certain game plan and that’s the way I like to play.’

De Kock is aware that he needs to adapt according to the needs of the team and is learning how to change his style according to the match situation.

‘Some days I can get off to a good start and keep a good momentum for the team. Some days I’m going to need to grind it out.

‘In certain conditions that will determine how I play, I guess.’

De Kock is in great form at the moment and has scored 252 runs so far in the Proteas’ Test series in Australia, which includes two half-centuries (84 and 64) and one century (104).
