CSA have confirmed that this year’s T20 Challenge will go ahead without a sponsor.

CSA and RAM Hand-to-Hand Couriers parted ways early last month after four years in partnership together, with the spot-fixing scandal that rocked South African cricket back in August complicating matters, although CSA and RAM have since confirmed that the scandal had nothing to do with it.

They were aiming to get sponsors on board in time for the event which gets underway on November 12, but they’ll go ahead without one for the tournament now just called the ‘T20 Challenge’.

CSA have also announced plans to potentially extend the tournament to eight teams in 2017 in an attempt to lure more international players, with Kevin Pietersen and Kieron Pollard leading the way for this year’s edition.

This tournament, which is set to include a number of Proteas players for the back-end of the tournament, concludes on December 16.
