Quick scoring from a youthful North West sinks last years finalists as KZN-Inland lose their opening match.
Vaughn Van Jaarsveld and Sarel Erwee got off to a good start helping the hosts to 85 off 68 balls. The partnership was broken when Erwee fell on 46 runs off 44 balls, playing a controlled innings consisting of eight fours.
Van Jaarsveld (60), hit three fours and three sixes before he fell in the 15th over shortly after losing his new partner, Kyle Nipper (10), in the 14th over caught lbw by SA Emerging star Bjorn Fortuin.
The hosts ended their innings just past 150 to the end off their 20 overs. Brady Barends (2-33) taking his second wicket towards the end, restricting the hosts to 156-5.
North West showed hunger from the start, Rassie Van der Dussen hit a maximum and a four off the first two deliveries. Van der Dussen (31) and his opening partner, Janneman Malan (47), did well to get their team off to a good start cruising to 73 runs off just 48 balls.
The final 41-run partnership between Andre Malan and SA Emerging star Marcus Ackerman was the final decider with Ackerman scoring 31-runs off 18 balls before losing his wicket with just two runs left shortly after hitting the previous delivery to the boundary for four. Milan (30) was left with the last few nails to close the coffin, hitting a four to end the match his side ending their innings on 160-4 in 18.4 overs.
