The Cape Cobras welcome back a number of all-rounders ahead of their trip to India, despite Vernon Philander giving the side a scare. 

Philander has recovered from a minor car accident that caused whiplash and is expected to train today. Together with the fit again Rory Kleinveldt and Justin Kemp, the three key all-rounders add the necessary depth to the Cape Cobras side ahead of their in their Champions League Twenty20 mission.

After a lengthy period on the sidelines due to a knee injury, Kleinveldt is now 95 % fit and will be ready for the first game in India. He will be joined by Justin Kemp, who did not feature in the Global Softech Sixes tournament due to a hamstring-injury, but will also be ready for the first game in India.

Justin Ontong said the three all-rounders are key members of the team as they have the ability to hit big sixes and play a role with the ball.

‘It is great to have so many all-rounders,’ Ontong told the Cape Cobras website. ‘If you have only four specialist bowlers and three of them travel, you might have a problem.

‘But if you can call on six or seven bowlers, you have options.’

Another boost ahead of leaving for the CLT20 is that the Cape Cobras will compete in the global T20-tournament in new kit, after NASHUA (PTY) Ltd announced they will take over the principal sponsorship in a deal worth R4 million per year.
