Jacques Rudolph’s Glamorgan offered only token resistance as Yorkshire crushed them by 90 runs in the final Natwest Blast T20 quarterfinal.
It will be of little consolation to the captain that top-scored with 26, as Adil Rashid picked up 4-26 off three overs, restricting Glamorgan to 90 all out, chasing 180.
The efforts of Colin Ingram, who had taken 4-32 off four were in vain as David Willey smashed 79 off 38 (7×4, 6×6).
In earlier quarter-final action, Rory Kleinveldt took three valuable wickets to help Northants through at the expense of Middlesex. He got the ball rolling by dismissing Dawid Malan for 0 in the first over, and then took two wickets later to dispel any hope of a late charge.
That left Middlesex, who chose to bat,with a woefully inadequate total of 132-7, and Kleinveldt the Man of the Match with figures of 3-24.
Northants ran down that target for the loss of three wickets, including Richard Levi for 6, in 18.3 overs.
Riki Wessels contributed 36 off 29 balls as Notts overcame Essex by 39 runs. Notts accumulated 162-7 and then bowled out Essex for 123, with Imran Tahir bowling a tight line to take 1-24.
Durham also progressed by beating Gloucestershire by 19 runs. Keaton Jennings added 36 off 30 balls, and Michael Richardson 37 off 21 to Durham’s total of 180.
The finals day, in which the two semi-finals and final are played in one extravaganza is at Edgbaston on 20 August, lines up thus: Yorkshire vs Durham; Notts vs Northants. It has already been sold out, proving the pull of T20.
