West Indies fast bowler Jerome Taylor has retired from Test cricket.

Taylor leaves the Test arena with 46 caps to his name in a career spanning 13 years. He took 130 wickets at an average of 34.46.

The 32-year-old played his last Test against Australia in Sydney at the beginning of the year, and was left out of the recent Test squad to face India, after giving ‘formal notification’ of his decision to retire, according to a press release from the West Indies Cricket Board.

The Jamaican native made his debut as an 18-year-old against Sri Lanka in 2003, and was known for his pace and natural out-swing. He spent almost five years out of the Test side between 2009 and 2014 due to persistent injuries.

His finest moment came on his home ground at Sabina Park in 2009, when his 5-11 obliterated England. They were dismissed for 51 as the Windies won by an innings. His best was 6-47 against Australia last year, while his best match figures were 9-95 against India in 2006.

He will continue to be available for selection in the shorter formats.
