Titans all-rounder Albie Morkel has ruled himself out of the 2016/17 four-day domestic season.
Former Proteas player Albie Morkel has made himself unavailable for the Titans to concentrate on his limited-overs game. According to the Titans website, the main motivation behind his decision was to spend more time with his family and to give younger players an opportunity to play and gain some experience in a conducive environment at the franchise.
‘I think the environment at the Titans is so healthy that it produces good performances. Look at the players who joined us from the Lions last season. They both hit top-form,’ Morkel told the Titans website.
Morkel has played 77 first-class matches, scoring 4 117 runs at an average of 44.26, but played only one Test match for the Proteas. He has achieved relative success in the limited-overs format – playing 58 ODI games.
