Australia Test captain Steve Smith believes the day-night Test match against the Proteas will go ahead.

The proposed match seems to have been given the green light. Initially the South African players were reluctant to participate in a day-night match mainly due to not having sufficient enough experience playing with the pink ball, but have since relaxed their stance.

Smith says he expects the two sides to use the pink ball when the Proteas tour Australia for a three-match series in November.

‘My gut feel at the moment is we’ll probably end up playing two day-night Tests in the summer,’ Smith told AAP.

‘We’ll see how it all transpires. I’m sure that will all come out over the next little while, about how that’s progressing.’

According to cricket.com.au the decision is expected to be announced on Wednesday.

The Proteas face Australia in their Tri-nation series match in Guyana on Tuesday night.
