Dale Steyn was at last among the wickets to help Glamorgan to a five-wicket win over Hampshire in the T20 Blast on Friday night.

After being ignored throughout the IPL, and suffering a painful debut against Essex, conceding 32 runs without reward, he bounced back to take 3-22, cleaning up the tail to restrict Hampshire to 141 off 18.3 overs.

Having gone for 15 off his first two overs, he returned to take 3-7 in 10 balls. Aussie Michael Hogan had broken the back of the Hampshire resistance with 4-24 and Craig Meschede weighed in with 1-15 off two.

Despite losing Jacques Rudolph (1) and David Lloyd (2), Colin Ingram stepped up to smash 43 off 30 balls (4×4, 2×6), adding 93 with Aneurin Donald (55) for the third wicket. Chris Cooke ran up 24 off 19 to see Glamorgan over the line.

After a stellar debut for Sussex two days ago, taking 4-38 against Somerset, David Wiese was brought back to earth as he went for 32 off two overs against a rampant Surrey side.

All the bowlers suffered as Durban-born England hard man Jason Roy finally found his form to smash 109 off 67 balls, with an incredible 16 fours and a six: that’s 70 runs off 17 strokes. He helped Surrey run up 205 off their overs, against which Sussex could muster 182-5.

Elsewhere, Richard Levi and Rory Kleinveldt combined to help Northants to a seven-wicket win over Worcestershire. Kleinveldt took 2-32 off four, holding Worcs to just 144-6; then Levi did what Levi does best, hammering 44 off 25 balls, with eight fours and a six. He ran just six of those 44.

He and Josh Cobb (56) put on 64 in 5.2 overs for the second wicket, when Levi was caught and bowled by Brett D’Oliviera, grandson of the great Basil D’Oliveira. Game over.
