Taking out the Gujarat Lions’ top two batsmen is a feat worthy of the Play of the Day.

The Gujarat Lions were flying high on the log, but when they were sent in to bat by the Delhi Daredevils, they didn’t see this coming.

Big Brendon McCullum had gone to a wild swing at Zaheer Khan in the third over, with the score on 17, and the Lions needed a bit of stability.

Up steps left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem, who already had an lbw shout against McCullum turned down. First Dwayne Smith chipped a long-hop to long-on, and five balls later Aaron Finch got a leading edge off his attempted sweep to short fine leg. Lions’ three overseas batsmen were dismissed and at the end of the powerplay, the score was read 35-3, the Lions’ lowest Powerplay returns of the season. They never recovered.
