South Africa women ended their World T20 tournament on a sorry note with a 10-run defeat to Sri Lanka women on Monday.
The Proteas women did well to restrict Sri Lanka to 114-7 in their 20 overs as Chamari Atapatt top scored with 52.
South Africa had a great start as they chased 115 for victory with Dane van Niekerk (24) and Trisha Chetty (26) sharing a 50-run opening stand.
Things went pear shaped after they fell as captain Mignon du Preez was dismissed for a duck, while Marizanne Kapp could only muster 14 from 17 balls.
They fell short, only managing 104-7.
