The Pretoria Capitals have signed Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz for the 2025 SA20 season.
The 22-year-old is a major coup for the Capitals having been the leading run-scorer at the recent T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and USA with 281 runs at an average of 35.21.
Gurbaz struck three half-centuries, which included 16 sixes – the second most in the tournament – along with 18 fours.
Overall, Gurbaz has played 63 T20Is, scoring 1,657 runs at an average of 26.30 and strike rate of 135.48.
Gurbaz has shown to possess the Midas touch after being part of two successive IPL-winning teams. He won the IPL with the Gujarat Titans in 2023 before following it up with the Kolkata Knight Riders this past season.
Meanwhile, the Capitals have parted ways with batting coach Jacques Kallis. This follows the appointment of Jonathan Trott as head coach.
We were humbled by your presence in our camp since the start of #SA20 🙌
We thank you with all our hearts as you look forward to the next venture in your life! 💙#RoarSaamMore pic.twitter.com/q8KYyTfsHe
