Former KZN Dolphins and Cape Cobras all-rounder Calvin Savage starred with bat and ball for the Texas Super Kings in their 37-run win against the Seattle Orcas on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old scored 45* off 27 balls to help Texas post 177-8 and then took 2-23 with the ball to be named Man of the Match.
Savage left South Africa for the USA in 2021. At the time, he said: “It is getting harder and harder in SA. Opportunities are more and more limited. In America, there is a lot more stability and I am happy to be on a three-year contract with the Michigan Cricket Stars.”
Texas captain Faf du Plessis scored 39 off 17 balls in Tuesday’s match.
Seattle’s Ryan Rickelton was dismissed first ball by Ottneil Baartman, who took 3-20 in his four overs, while Quinton de Kock made 26 off 19 deliveries and captain Heinrich Klaasen four off eight.
