A special knock from Jason Smith propelled the KZN Dolphins to a three-wicket victory over the North West Dragons at Kingsmead on Friday.
Smith (116* off 103 balls) came to the crease with the Dolphins struggling on 54-3 in pursuit of their 264 target.
He anchored crucial partnerships in the middle of the innings, including 74 runs with Tshepang Dithole (34) for the fifth wicket followed by 79 with Andile Phehlukwayo (25).
With the Dolphins needing six runs from eight balls, Smith blasted a maximum to secure victory .
Earlier, half-centuries from Raynard Van Tonder (54), Wihan Lubbe (67) and Senuran Muthusamy (67) helped the visitors post 263-9.
Daryn Dupavillon (3-43) starred with the ball for the hosts, and was well supported by captain Ethan Bosch (2044) and Ottniel Baartman (2-43).
In Division 2, Andile Simelane hit 110 off 72 balls to help SA Emerging to a respectable target of 288 all out against the Mpumalanga Rhinos in Pretoria. But it wasn’t enough as the Rhinos won by three wickets.
In Kimberley, the Northern Cape Heat fell three runs short against the Eastern Storm, while the Limpopo Impalas secured a 24-run victory against the Eastern Cape Iinyathi in East London.
