Chairman Lawson Naidoo says CSA is “satisfied” with its share of the ICC’s annual reported earnings of $600-million (R11-billion) per year.
The ICC’s revenue share model for the period 2024 to 2027 was approved at its AGM in Durban earlier this week.
CSA is set to be paid about R494-million per year, R18-million more than the amount in the original draft proposal distributed to boards in May. The boards of New Zealand, the West Indies, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will also receive that extra amount.
“There were a few people who raised the issue of the revenue model and the amounts, but at the end of the day, we are satisfied,” Naidoo told the Sunday Times.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will earn $230-million (R4.5-billion) per year after its share of the ICC’s earnings was increased from 22.4% to 38.5%.
“None of [the other national boards] disputes that India is primarily responsible for bringing in most of that revenue. They are by far responsible for the majority of the earnings the ICC gets through its media rights,” said Naidoo.
