James Anderson has become the No 1-ranked men’s Test bowler at the age of 40.
The England fast bowler overtook Australia quick Pat Cummins and India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin after his seven-wicket haul against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui last week.
By ending Cummins’ four-year reign as the top-ranked Test bowler, Anderson became the premier bowler on the Test rankings for a sixth time, having first done so in May 2016.
Proteas speedster Kagiso Rabada remains seventh in the rankings.
